“Greatness from small beginnings.”

A quote that has resonated in my mind since I first read it while playing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End; a Playstation 4 exclusive game that went on to win Game of The Year. It’s not very often you get to learn something that profound from a video game. Naughty Dog did a really good job on the Uncharted franchise (a big thumbs-up to them)

Enough about the game and back to why I’m writing about this awesome quote. It really got me thinking. Greatness does begin small. So small it’s even many times, invisible at the start; often just a thought. An idea that only has the mind to call home until it is nurtured properly and then, materializes to become what we see and admire.

The Great Wall of China, the Pyramids in Egypt, the Empire State Building, the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and many more awesome structures throughout history all began as a simple thought, an aspiration, a dream; then got penciled down as plans and went on to become the wonders we see today.

Tech giants we see and admire today; Apple, Google and Facebook to name a few, all had ‘small’ beginnings. You must’ve read about how most of them (at least two-thirds of the above-mentioned started in a garage). They started as a vision, a dream, a thought about solutions to the world’s problems.

Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us -Wilma Rudolph

So many remarkable individuals we admire and draw inspiration from today, also had rather humble, even unremarkable beginnings. This undoubtedly proves that no matter where you are right now, you’re capable of becoming whatever you want to be, go wherever you want to go, reach any height cos at the end of the day, it all begins in your mind. Even the Bible says not to despise the days of little beginnings.

You have the chance to dream up and materialize the next big thing; to be the next Warren Buffet, Aliko Dangote, Oprah Winfrey. And who says you can’t even do better, go farther. It’s really up to you. Don’t forget though; Rome wasn’t built overnight. Sic parvis magna.

Be sure to recommend this post. Someone out there needs to see it. It begins with just a tap of that ❤️. Share your thoughts in the comments too.
